Stacey + Luke

Stacey + Luke

16 January

The inseparable couple, Stacey and Luke shared with us their dream wedding that is all they had dreamed and hoped for. The very organised Stacey and care-free Luke first met 5 years ago and travelled across the world together since then. Is like the perfect fit for each other, they balance each other out perfectly and have learnt to compromise on love and life. After travelled to so many places and had such wonderful adventure, Luke popped the question at home to start a new adventure as an engaged couple.

Stacey wore a variation of Greta gown by Gemy Couture. A classic A-line gown with embroidered tulle top with fitted satin skirt. Covered with romantic full lace and see through back, lastly paired with a matching lace heels.

Here are some beautiful photos of Stacey and Luke's wedding. To get Stacey's dress, make an appointment with us.

Tell a little bit about you and your partner
Luke and I finally met through mutual friends about 5 years ago after being around each other multiple times but just missing out meeting each other. It was a music gig of a friend of ours and we chatted all night, I thought he was really wonderful but was shocked at the end of the night when he said goodbye and didn’t even ask for my number! So after some light Facebook stalking and chatting with friends we managed to meet up again for coffee which turned into dinner. Then over the next 4 months we both had travel plans so things progressed slowly but we stayed in contact the whole time. Then when Luke got home from his US trip we were inseparable. We have had many adventures together- overseas holidays and building our home and we can’t wait to start the next chapter of our lives as we start a family together.

Our dream wedding just fell into place, every decision was simple and unified. The day was all that we had hoped and more. Both of us have lost a parent so we knew that emotions would be high on our day. But the day was beautiful, intimate and just perfect. We knew that we wanted to wedding to be about us and our love for each other and I think that showed on the day. I made most of the things for our wedding from the invites, decorations, and even the cake! Which made the day so much sweeter that we had such a hand in bringing the day to life.

A little bit more something else we don’t know about you
Luke and I are opposites, in the way of, I’m very organised and like to plan, he is very care free and a fly by the seat of his pants kinda guy. But we balance each other out perfectly and have learnt to compromise on this and life is now planned chaos!

We also have a love for Ice hockey and have planned our honeymoon around this. It has been a lifelong dream of Luke’s to see our ice hockey team play live, so when it came to deciding on a honeymoon destination, it was a no brainer for me. I asked Luke if he would like to spend 3 weeks in the USA following the team around! To which he couldn’t believe his ears and jumped at the chance so now we head off on our Ice hockey fan adventure on Christmas day, following the Detroit Red Wings through 10 cities in 28days. We can’t wait!

How he/she popped the question?
Luke had surprised me for my 30th Birthday with tickets for us to travel to Paris and London that Christmas/New Year. We spent new Years Eve sipping champagne under the Eiffel Tower, it was just beautiful. All my family and friends kept saying that he would propose, however I knew Luke, this was way to cliché for him, so I never thought twice about it. The trip was amazing and we had a great time, but no proposal. It was when we came home that night, I thought he was being a bit odd but thought it was just jetlag. So we went to bed, just as I was about to fall asleep I heard him mumble that he loved me and would I marry him? I thought I was dreaming.. so I said.. what was that?? He said it again and of course I said YES! It was just the most perfect proposal and so us. We had only been in our new home for a few months before our trip so Luke wanted us to be home and starting our new year in our home as an engaged couple. I did however question him again in the morning to make sure it was real as we were so jetlagged the night before that I definitely thought I had dreamed it!

What is the most exciting part of the planning?
The most exciting part of planning the wedding was actually all the DIY things I did, I had such a hand in almost every aspect of the wedding, it was wonderful seeing it all come together and be so “us”.

How to pick “the” perfect gown?
Picking my perfect gown was easy, I was at a bridal expo with my sister in law, getting info on things for her upcoming wedding, me being only days into being engaged wasn’t really thinking of our wedding just yet, but out of the corner of my eye I saw it.. the most exquisite gown I had ever seen and it was just what I envisioned for myself. I went over to the Collezione stall to look at it and get a brochure. I then called them to say I liked it but wasn’t getting married for 18months but didn’t want the gown to not be available when I was ready for dress shopping. Aimee told me that the dress takes 11 months to be made so I should pop in shortly to try it on. As my mum has passed on, I was so worried about the dress shopping part of planning the wedding as it is something that so many mothers and daughters get to share in together, but I have the most amazing support from my mums best friend who is like a mum to me and her daughter and my little “niece” who was also my flower girl so we went in together. The dress was stunning and as I remembered. I fell in love all over again, but then the doubt set in as there was another dress that was nice too, much more bridal and popular in style so then I was confused as the “Greta” dress is so unique I was worried it would be too different. Aimee was wonderful and didn’t push the decision, just told us to go home, and come back in 2 days to try them both on again. She said you will know as soon as you get home, which is the one.. She was so right, and when we went back, it was a unanimous decision that this was the perfect dress for me!

I loved the dress as it had the same neckline and was made in lace just like my mums and nannas wedding dresses. When you see pictures of the three of us, you can see the resemblance of each dress but just more modern. Everyone at the wedding thought the dress was beautiful and so me. I loved that it also tied into our vintage them perfectly. Thank you for allowing me to purchase the most perfect dress. I still love it today!

Favourite memory of the wedding?
There are many favourite memories from our wedding, but my all-time favourite part was walking through the cellar doors of Millbrook Winery and seeing my beautiful husband to be- he was so emotional (as was I and also my dad!) there was so much emotion in that room that you could just feel the love around us. It was unexplainable at how it felt, but it was the best feeling in the world.

One tip for those who are planning now
My biggest tip to all the brides to be out there who are planning their special day is to trust in your suppliers, I hired all our suppliers on how they made me feel. Of course what they offered was important but on the day we need to put all our trust in them to bring our vision to life, Remember they do this for a living so they know what they are talking about! I am so incredible happy with all my suppliers as they made everything so fuss free for us and the day was everything we envisioned and more.

I am also a super organised person so I had almost everything done and ready the week before our wedding so that I could spend the week leading up to the wedding relaxing (I highly recommend a visit to a float tank! OMG amazing!) and getting all my beauty appointments done. It also meant that the day before the wedding I just had to do a drop off of the supplies to Millbrook and make and deliver our cake, then I could relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the last evening as a MISS.
