Lisa + Michael
Our lovely bride Lisa in her Augusta Jones dress looks absolutely amazing. Their wedding and love story was featured on Easy Weddings and it is stunning. She shared with us their love story that started with a homemade italian recipe chocoalte cake and an epic 10-hour coffee date.
Lisa chose one of our gorgeous gowns called Ali by Augusta Jones. It is a boatneck straight skirt lace gown with train. It was love at first sight when she visited our boutique with her mum and sister. She carefully paired it with a beautiful bracelet, which was her engagement gift from her parents and these amazing pearl earrings were her “something borrowed” from Michael’s sister Emma.
We enjoyed how lovely Lisa and Michael looked in their wedding photos. We hope you enjoy their wedding photo's as much as we did. To get Lisa's dress, make an appointment with us.
Tell a little bit about you and your partner
Michael and I are both secondary school teachers and met at school. Michael would regularly come into my office for the most ridiculous reasons and I later found out it was just so we could chat…cute! At the same time, I was also trying to put the “vibe out there” to Michael. As a good Italian girl, the only way I knew how to do this was through food. So, one morning, I brought him in a piece of my mum’s famous chocolate cake. I got so nervous that I ran up to him, gave him the cake, said “enjoy” and took off! With that, he went home, told this story to his mum and sister- who questioned whether I had brought in cake for everyone and when they found out I hadn’t, they said “she definitely likes you-go and ask her out tomorrow”. So he did! He came up to me after school-very cool might I add, and asked me out for a coffee. I should also note at this point, the very cool, calm Michael literally skipped back to his car once I said yes. From our first date (which ended up being a 10 hour coffee date), we have just had the best time…ever!
We have had so much fun, so many wonderful moments that I honestly believe I could write a novel. Roughly 2 years down the track, on my birthday, Michael decides he wants to take a walk along the beach, to begin my birthday celebrations. We were at my family home in the south west of Western Australia in an area called Stratham-this property and this wonderful part of Australia is my favourite place in the world! So, as perfect as all this sounds, it was a windy morning and I had just had my hair done for my birthday. I really did not want to go down to the beach and gave Michael and 30 minute lecture on the process of girls hair. At this point, my entire family, who knew what was going on, were telling me not to be so ridiculous and go down to the beach with Michael as he had planned a birthday surprise. So, reluctantly, I went down to our family beach with Michael. Little did I know, early that morning Michael and my Dad had set up this beautiful display. Once we got to the display (which I honestly thought was for my birthday) Michael proposed! It was just perfect and I was so happy and excited! The rest of the day was wonderful and that evening, Michael and our parents planned a surprise dinner where Michael’s parents, siblings and partners came down from Perth and we had a big family dinner. This was one of my favourite parts about the entire day-having everyone come together. Our siblings now all get along so well and our parents have become ”besties” as they like to put it!
We were ready and raring to get married-we had no reason to wait. So organised to be married on the 9th of January 2016-9 months after our engagement. While I did not think anything could top the day Michael planned when he proposed, our wedding day, was by far the most incredible, magical day that I simply cannot fault!
What is the most exciting part of the planning?
I absolutely loved planning the wedding and there were so many exciting moments it was hard to put it down to just one. Some key moments in the planning that stand out however would be “choosing the venue with Michael and our families, invitation making day with the mums, my aunty and bridesmaids, lunches and meetings with my bridesmaids, shopping for my dress with my mum, asking our bridesmaids and groomsmen to be part of our day and finding the bridesmaids dresses”. While there can be stressful moments and times planning a wedding as there is just so much to do, it was all worth it and overall it was such a wonderful experience.
How to pick “the” perfect gown?
I did not have a set idea or style in mind. I knew particular things I liked or styles I thought may work, but really did not have a clear idea. At first, I thought it would take forever because I did not know what I wanted but found this to be an advantage as I was open to many ideas and suggestions and ended up getting a completely different look than a typical style I would go for. I purchased my dress from Collezione Bridal in Perth (an Augusta Jones collection). This was a wonderful day. My mum and I planned out 4 days of wedding dress shopping. This was the first shop and first dress I tried on. I was so worried, that I got excited too quickly, that we went to other stores, but none of the dresses matched up to this dress. My sister Emily, who has far better taste than me and who I need to run all my fashion choices by was then called in to give the final seal of approval and she just loved it-the day was so much fun and made me so excited to walk down that aisle! Collezione Bridal were fantastic to work with, they made the entire process an experience to remember and offered many great suggestions. I mainly dealt with Amelia in that store who went above and beyond what she needed to do!
Favourite memory of the wedding?
The entire day was our favourite memory! It was just perfect! If I had to pick a few stand out moments, I’d say…walking down the aisle with my dad and looking up at the alter at Michael. Another one of our favourite moments was once all the formalities of the reception was over and we just danced the night away…so much fun!
