Jasmine + Ricky
Jasmine shared with us her love story with Ricky and their intimate destination wedding at Bali with only 35 guests.
Jasmine wore our Josephine gown walked down the aisle. This Josephine dress is the classic wedding gown with sweetheart neckline and full tulle princess gown, that is perfect for the princess in you. With delicate lacework at the edge of the skirt, and finished with a beaded embroidered belt. She looks elegant and graceful in this special gown in this special day.
Jasmine and Ricky look adorable and happy in their wedding photos, and we are glad to be part of their wedding. To get Jasmine's dress, make an appointment with us.
Tell a little bit about you and your partner
We met in 2012 through mutual friends three weeks before I was supposed to be travelling overseas for a year. I only ended up going for a month and we have been together ever since! We are crazy animal lovers and have 3 cats and 2 dogs!! We are both from Wollongong, NSW but moved to Perth at the start of 2014 due to Ricky's work. Our wedding was a destination wedding in Bali. We had about 35 guests.
How he/she popped the question?
New Years Eve of 2014/2015, proposed to me at midnight while we were watching the Sydney fireworks on TV. He told me to close my eyes as he had a surprise for me and when I opened them he was down on one knee.
What is the most exciting part of the planning?
It was actually really easy for me as the resort took care of everything. They sent me a pdf with options to choose from! I found that amazing as I am a really indecisive person so it was great to have someone else in control. My other favourite thing was creating my invitations. I used Dreamday Invitations which is an online store and I was able to customise them exactly how I wanted. As it was a destination wedding my invitations were designed to look like boarding passes :)
How to pick “the” perfect gown?
When I was talking to people about looking for my dress, everyone kept telling me that when I found it I would "just know". I personally didn't find that, I had to try on a few and think about it a lot before making my decision. After I had chosen I didn't have any second thoughts! I would definitely recommend to try on a dress more than once before you make a decision, and go back with different people so you can get more than one opinion.
Favourite memory of the wedding?
I know it is a cliche, but it was honestly the most amazing day of my life. It was so perfect to have our family and friends there with us (as we don't get to see them all that often). I think the funniest memory to come from it was from when we were repeating our vows. The priest had a strong accent and Ricky couldn't understand him, so he was standing there with a look of terror on his face and no idea what to say. I had to whisper it to him after the priest had said it!
One tip for those who are planning now
Don't let it get out of hand. We had originally planned to get married in Australia, but after our invite numbers had started going up over 150 we had to look at what we were doing and remember why we are getting married in the first place. We ended up taking it overseas and having a much more intimate wedding which suited us much better.
